Equator Energy, founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Nvision and Maris Capital, has grown to become the largest operator of commercial and industrial solar power plants in East Africa. In 2023, a consortium of IBL Group, Inspired Evolution and STOA acquired a majority stake, and FEI, managed by Cygnum Capital, invested $30 million, in one of the region's largest solar funding rounds.
